Poached Pears with Cinnamon Syrup and Chocolate Sauce

Everyone loves a little indulgence, right? Especially if it involves chocolate!
Why make this dessert?
Well, it's quick and easy to make,
It tastes great,
It looks fancy on a plate if you are out to impress
And it contains fruit ... which is pretty healthy, right?
Ingredients for poached pears
8 x pears
2 cups of brown sugar
6 cups of water
a cinnamon stick or a tablespoon of ground cinnamon
Ingredients for chocolate sauce
250 grams of bitter cooking chocolate
100 grams of butter
1 litre of cream
Method - for the pears
Peel and core out the middle of the pears - leaving the stem on,
Slice the bottom of the pear level so it will sit upright on a plate,
In a pan, add the sugar and water and cinnamon and heat,
Put in the pears and poach until a little soft,
Pour the pears and juice mix into a container - these are now ready :)
Method for the chocolate sauce
break up the chocolate into chunks and cube the butter,
On a low heat in a pan, melt the chocolate and butter together,
Slowly pour in the cream and keep whisking until the cream blends in with the chocolate and butter - if you like sweet chocolate, chuck in some sugar
And that is it!
Serving
Place the pear on the plate, pour over some chocolate sauce. Add icecream for sup-indulgence!
Pro tip 1: If you want austere, then just reduce the poached pear juice to a thick syrup and pour-over.
Pro tip 2: If you want to go fancy, place dots of cream in the syrup or chocolate and drag a knife-edge through the cream to form love hearts.
This is a party-pleaser! Enjoy :)
